I watched some of that show on cable, aboot that clinic in NY that treats morbidly obese people. I saw the woman who was dying-but she kept stuffing herself. Then the guy with the gangrenous, swollen leg-he looked pretty bad. My question: suppose you gave these people heroin-as much as they wanted-could they lose weight by doing this? Once they dropped 300-400 lbs., then they could be treated for the drug addiction. It seems a lot safer than living with a 500 pound body weight. Can you suppress one addiction (food) by creating another?
I’ve seen fat heroin addicts. It ain’t pretty.
Stimulant addicts (ie cocaine, diet pills) tended to not only get addicted, but die at alarming rates, as they wasted away. The cure was worse than the disease.
So, the short answer is no, it wouldn’t work.
Qadgop is wise.
And I agree with him. I am a fat woman. I have battled my weight all my life. I’ve gained and lost the same 90-100 pounds three times. In my late 20s, I decided it would be a good idea to smoke for a few years instead of eating.
Now I am a fat smoker who is battling not one, but two, major health issues.
