Would you be annoyed about my school situation, and what would you do?

Being a hairstylist involves being in physical contact with someone for long stretches of time. I say this not because I’m a hairstylist, but because I go to one occasionally. The stylist has, as others have pointed out, scissors and chemicals close at hand. I’ve watched stylists get cussed out, screamed at, and otherwise abused…and I don’t think that this woman is going to be able to control her environment and clients to the point where she’ll be able to function.

Yup. You MUST complete 1500 hours of instruction before you can take the licensing exam. I think you can apprentice under another stylist as an alternative, but I’m not sure of the details of that.

I’m going to let the instructor know today that my friend and I are going to air our concerns with the PD. Zoe’s right that this isn’t his fault, so I want him to have a heads up. He is just as frustrated as us. I also have to ask my mom how she always got exceptions made for me in school. I was diagnosed at a “learning center” sort of thing when I was 7, (although I was showing signs as early as 2.) and from then on, one word from my mother and i was able to submit typewritten work, provided with odd shaped pencils, etc. I haven’t had to deal with that in 10 years, so I have no idea how that’s done.

The usual threats. :mad::smiley:

Lawyer up re. safety and re. laptop, and keep pressing the highest levels of administration through your lawyer.

Call 911 when she gets out of hand.

You said above that you cannot leave this program, but you didn’t explain why. The Greenville-Spartanburg metro area has about 1.2 million people, so I have to imagine that this cosmetology school isn’t the only game in town. Why not talk to a different school about your experiences at your current school and the possibility of transferring into theirs?

Probably a no-refunds after Date X policy.

“class action suit” in the truest meaning of the word. Either she goes or everybody else does.

“finally did something” is not how I would have worded it. They put him in a box. He should be in a padded room.

I don’t think it would meet the numerosity requirement for class certification. Plus she has claims that are not typical of other members of the proposed class, so she wouldn’t make a very good representative plaintiff.
