Would you prefer Trump to one of history's worst presidents?

I feel you’re overthinking this. Trump’s skills as a businessman were on par with his skills as a political leader. I have strong doubts that Trump could have figured out the economic aspects of a pandemic and even stronger doubts that he ever tried.

But what will happen to the original me in that alternate universe? Will they get transported to our sucky universe and have to put up with world of suck that is the the IRL Trump 2024 election campaign? I’m not sure I can live with that morally

While I know it’s risky ever taking Trump at his word, well, we do have his words on this.

On March 9, weeks after he told Woodward that the coronavirus was more than five times deadlier than the flu, Trump tweeted: “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”

As the fellow who fell off the Empire State building was heard to remark as he passed the 82nd floor, “So far, so good.”

I agree with this completely. But he’d have had to, you know, wear a mask.

(And those get makeup stains on them!)

Instead, we were treating to his supporters bleating “It’s not fair to judge him on all four years of his presidency!”

Okay, fine, we’ll just judge him on the last … month of his presidency.

The answer you want from me is Andrew Johnson, and I’ll change my vote accordingly, but I wouldn’t take the genie’s offer even in your new hypothetical.
