Would you rather someone post a new thread on a topic that's been done before, or resurrect a zombie

I voted for zombie, but we need a qualifier. You only get to resurrect a zombie if you are asking the same question, or have new information to share. This freshly resurrected zombie seems to have been brought back to life for no apparent reason. A number of the main participants are no longer active, or are banned.

Yeah, we’ve talked about things before. And now, some of us want to talk about it again. If we can’t talk about old topics, you can shut the SDMB down completely, and make it nothing but an archive forum.

Being pro-resurrection is saying that you can talk more about “old” topics.

Always preferring new threads implies that you don’t have anything new to say.

I sometimes find it fun to read the old zombies. If someone ends up arguing a position a now-absent poster has taken, others are free to take over the position, or whatever.

Nobody has ever been able to articulate to me why I should care whether the same “old” posters are still around. The posted ideas remain; that’s what new comments are engaging.
