Would you turn your house into a giant billbord in exchange if you got your mortgage payments payed?

That’s just what one company is offering. Freestanding homes only (no condos) and offer not valid were prohibited by local zoning laws (or presumably HOA covenants). It’d no clear whether you’d have veto power over the ads (other than dropping out of the program), but they wouldn’t be anything that isn’t normally seen on a public billboard. I’m not a homeowner, but I think I might. The only thing that really bothers me is the mention of some churches being interested (I assume in buying adds, not painting the church). That would be an absolute dealbreaker for me. So would political ads or social issue ones (especially dealing with abortion). What would you do?

I’m thinking they’re gong to want to choose houses on major roads. More views and generally lower values, so lower monthly payments. I also have vinyl siding, which could be a problem. But I said “yes” even though they wouldn’t want mine. I think it’d be kind of cool. My wife probably wouldn’t let me, though.

Even if I didn’t have an evil HOA to prohibit it, I still wouldn’t. I thought maybe it could be done somewhat tactfully, but the picture in the provided link is…not. I gotta believe you’d be upsetting some neighbors, too.

I live in the boonies, so it’d never be offered to me, but even when I lived on busier streets, nope, not interested. I wouldn’t mind driving a car covered with ads, but I don’t need that stuff on my house, thanks.

I have 2 neighbors who are serious jackasses that I would do it just to piss them off … but I would not want a birther, right to life, or anti drug ad on my house.

The ad would have to be something that I believe in, or like for a bank, store or other purely commercial ad. I am against certain ideologies and would not like to be thought of as espousing them.

I already don’t give a crap about what the outside of my house looks like, and really only deal with it due to societal expectations. Ads aren’t going to bother me, especially when we are barely making house payments now.

It only pays per month, as long as the ad stays up on the house; our mortgage payments aren’t high enough for it to be worth it.

I would only do it for a political ad or social issue.

ETA: IANA homeowner so the point is moot, I guess.

From the linked article.

And when the company goes bankrupt, who pays to repaint the house?

I might do it if the company had a long, stable history.

I would display the most disgusting pornography or violence out front of my house if it paid the mortgage. I have financial problems and no morals. I’d even let a church advertise with pictures of dead fetuses, and I’m a staunch pro-life atheist.

This seems to indicate to me that the ads painted on houses will advertise Adzookie.com, not other businesses or causes.

I laugh because I agree so wholeheartedly!
I don’t have a mortgage but I’d do it for nothing but rent if they let me. Anything to help right now.

I would do it if someone would just paint my house.
