The NZ police turned up because there might have been a fight about to start, but it didn’t, the highlight of the programme was when one car shunted another.
Then again there was the incident when the police pulled over a young rebel for going five mph over the speed limit.
The cop gave the perp a good talking to, and just watching it , I learnt a lesson.
There are two reasons I did a poll before starting the thread:
(a) I think I have quite a high success rate with my threads, no point in dragging down the average with a damp squib
but much more importantly
(b) I haven’t selected the specific episode I wanted to discuss, which seems to be the impression that most here are coming away with. I wouldn’t want to go to what is going to be about four or five man hours of effort just to get one reply.
Oh, writing the thread will take a couple of minutes. It’s choosing the right episode that’ll be difficult. I suppose I could pick one at random but I’m really looking for one that contrasts a lot of stuff (especially with what I perceive to be the Sherrif J.W. Pepper approach versus the UK softly softly approach). I also want one where Jamie Theakston gets to the end and runs down the sentences everyone got and they are especially interesting (in either direction).
I’ve just watched a rather good one: 999 What’s Your Emergency? This starts with the emergency calls and the the response of the call takers before moving on to the emergency service response. This particular episode was themed around women and the (disturbing) rise in female on female violence in the UK. Some good interviews with female police and some rather special incidents. One began with a young female howling to the 999 operator that her best friend was dying. As soon as the officers arrived the girl legged it as she was the one who had stabbed the victim, her friend!
By the way dropzone regarding that I once saw a world’s wildest police videos that had something set in the UK. They faked a UK news helicopter reporter with the most ridiculous “tea and crumpets” accent, probably by someone who’d never left Texas.
It was only then that I noticed that pretty much all the audio on that program was fake!
I don’t count because I’m in the UK, but wanted to chime in to say I will watch any cop show, any time. I watched Cop Squad earlier which is my favourite because it’s filmed in my home town, and that had one bit which cracked me up.
A man is chased through some gardens after doing some crime (I forget what already), police jump on him and wrestle him to the ground. Put him under arrest, inform him he’s going to be searched: “Have you got anything on you you shouldn’t have?”
He replies: “Yeah, the police.”
