Wouldn’t Force healing have been useful for Prequel era Jedi?

The ones fighting a war with horrendous death toll. Plus maybe Anakin would have actually avoided falling to the dark side if he had known he could simply heal Padme with the force? Lost count of the number of times Rey and Ben/Kylo healed each other in The Rise of Skywalker.

Did the Jedi lose the memo?

Guys I am beginning to think the Disney Sequels aren’t well thought out.

Didn’t Anakin resurrect his dead padawan during the Clone Wars?

This was, in fact, a major plot point in Revenge of the Sith - Palpatine told Anakin that there were ways to use the Force to heal (even prevent death), but that the Jedi considered those powers to be “unnatural.”

Now, it’s likely that Palpatine was being less than truthful to Anakin, and it was also Palpatine who was giving Anakin nightmares about Padme dying in childbirth.

And there’s your answer.

That was using the Daughter’s life force, though. Literally channeling the power of a dying Goddess.

Rey and Ben are a Force Dyad. They’re a special case in that they’re bound to each other through the Force in a way that almost never happens - thus far, they’re the only known Dyad in established canon, though there is a similar pairing in Legends. A big part of the reason the Sith Rule of Two existed for so long was that the Sith had been trying, unsuccessfully, to create a Dyad between master and student.

…But what happens to the dyad when their oak tree dies?

Plus, Palpatine was largely talking out his ass about it. Once Anakin had turned, suddenly it was, “Well, I personally don’t know how to do it, but I’ve heard it can be done, and maybe if we work together…”

Qui Gon and Obi Wan used super speed in literally the first scene of the prequels then it never came up again.

Actually he said that Anakin killed Padme in his anger.

That was after she died. I’m talkng about the moment Anakin became Darth Vader.

Anakin Skywalker : What have I done?

Supreme Chancellor : You’re fulfilling your destiny, Anakin. Become my apprentice. Learn to use the dark side of the Force.

Anakin Skywalker : I will do whatever you ask.

Supreme Chancellor : Good!

Anakin Skywalker : Just help me save Padme’s life. I can’t live without her.

Supreme Chancellor : To cheat death is a power only one has achieved. But if we work together, I know we can discover the secret.

Anakin Skywalker : I pledge myself to your teachings.

Supreme Chancellor : Good. Good! The Force is strong with you. A powerful Sith you will become. Henceforth, you shall be known as Darth… Vader.

Anakin Skywalker : Thank you… my Master.

Supreme Chancellor : Rise.

Here’s what Palpy said to Anakin:

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

As you see, very strong implications that the Dark Side can save Padme, but no actual promise that there is a practical way to do it known to him or anyone else still around.

Frankly, Anakin was an idiot. “Okay, I’ll betray everything I care about because of the remote possibility that maybe doing so might help me get the power to save someone.”

In all honesty, I think Anakin was using that as a way to rationalize turning to the Dark Side. He saw himself as a hero, and he could only justify turning evil if it was in the name of doing good. But he was lying to himself. He was an impatient, rage-filled young man (he always had been, being raised a slave can do that sort of thing) and he was always prone to turning. Only the efforts of mentors like Yoda and Obi-Wan delayed the inevitable. Palpatine finally gave him both the excuse and support to finally do it.

Anakin was loyal to people not principles. Sidious knew that. He saw that on Dooku’s ship when Anakin point blank refused to leave Obi Wan. Which is why he made sure that everyone who Anakin trusted or at least respected was away when he made his move. No Obi Wan. No Yoda. He and Padme are at odds over her political opposition to Palpatine. Ashoka has left the order. Even then Sidious knows that when he does reveal himself there is a chance that Anakin won’t turn. Which is in fact what happens, initially.

The novelisation does a good job of showing Anakin’s state of mind. He is stressed out, overworked and not sleeping at all or thinking straight… This is noted by others. When he learns about Palpatine his first thought is he wished Obi Wan was with him.

There is a more recent Disney EU book where Darth Vader wonders what would have happened if instead of being told to basically sit down and shut up by Windu, he had told Anakin to go inform the Senate or maybe contact the rest of the Council. Basically anything but what he did.

Rey also healed the cave snake. Weird, I just posted about that snake in another thread.

I’m sensing a business opportunity here. Since it is canon that Force powers work over Zoom (ESB), you could revolutionize Galactic tele-medicine.

“Call Coruscant 8-5309 and BE HEALED! All major planetary credit cards accepted. No Bothans.”

Just think what you could do to telemarketers!

The snake was Rey and Kylo’s Force Pet.
