Some years ago I attended a WorldCon in Chicago. During the featured costume display one guy appeared as a Klingon from the mirror universe. Since temperaments were switched around, he skipped onstage in a pastels version of Klingon battle gear, all pink and mauve. He was supposed to be a crewmember of the Imperial Floral Ship Dimples.
Hmm. You may be onto something here- Takei and Q have a lot in common, via Sampiro’s post. Successful, never married, says “We” a lot when you thought he was only talking about himself…
He has at least one son, Trelaine, the Squire of Gothos. In “I,Q,” which I didn’t really like, he had a wife and son. I don’t think that son was Trelaine.
Who’d’ve thought a guy named riker would know so much about Star Trek? I’ve seen that one; I felt it could be discounted for the purposes of my joke because, as I remember it, they decided to have a kid because the Q wnated to reproduce, not because they were having some kind of emotional relationship.
In my defense, I haven’t read any Trek books since I was 17 or so. Riker was just something I could remember and 1384 was my 8th-grade bus number. I listened to I,Q on tape, read by De Lancie, recently. He didn’t really read it AS Q. I was disappointed.
I also missed the Takei=gay memo. But then, I don’t normally pay attention to the “So-and-so is gay” rumors.
I’m curious to know how many WNBA fans were surprised by this. There’s only about five of them, so it shouldn’t take too long to find out
Seriously, the WNBA is pretty much the female counterpart to male figure skating. I can’t imagine that many people are going to be surprised by Sheryl Swoops “coming out.”
Well, she was the poster girl for “We’re not all lesbians in the WNBA!” so it’s probably a little surprising to some of them. Heck, reading her comments, it seems to have been a bit of a surprise to Sheryl.
