Without the bad we wouldn’t recognize the good and good things are ahead for you! Might come in unexpected ways, like your kids meeting their best friends ever, your grandmothers finding their respective peace, getting to really know your dad. Life happens almost every day (:p) so take it at a stroll and listen to your body—it already feels better!
Sounds like a shit place to work - maybe in time, you will find yourself in a more fortunate position where you can look back and regard this episode as a lucky escape. I hope it all works out for you.
Thanks for more warm thoughts. My family decided to end life-saving treatment yesterday afternoon.
My dad wants to be alone for now, so I’m staying home. It will likely be a few days before we can arrange for the body to be transported home, and how to best arrange care for my grandfather (he is rapidly declining into dementia, and this was to be their last winter as snowbirds)
For those of you who have asked about my workplace - yes, it was by far a less-than-ideal workplace. I took a job there in the middle of recession after my final unemployment extension was running out, and no “real” jobs were cropping up. I was always less-than-satisfied with the company, but loved most of my co-workers, so kept sticking it out. Hopefully this is going to give me a chance to move closer to my family and find something better.
