Wow...

I registered just to make this post.

Read the “Straight Dope” on the history of the Bible. And was more impressed with IT that I am with the Bible itself.

First, you folks could do my church a favor by teaching my Pastor how to teach. I was not used to such clarity. Straight Dope, indead.

Going to be around for a while. The writing style is exactly right. Factual, yet not intimidating or over-bearing. Seems like a great place to visit.

Thanks for doing what you do.

May I offer a humble “Welcome to our playground!”

Stick around, it’s a wonderful place.

Beware the goats. Keep your shoes off the furniture and enjoy the margarita.

Welcome! You’ll find a lot of very interesting people here, you’ll hear new ideas and different spins on old ideas.

And once in a while, you’ll just laugh uncontrollably.

Welcome! Make yourself comfortable, watch out for Sunspace and his pet squck, and join the ranks of the Straight Dope.

And to call home. There is no better Internet community.

Welcome! The particular column you reference is one of my favorites. I also like “Who really killed Jesus” - a straightforward explanation of a touchy subject.

Welcome to the SDMB, Billy.

The articles you are commenting on were Staff Reports, written by Cecil’s minions and not by the Perfect Master himself. Consequently, I’ll move this thread to the Comments on Staff Reports forum.

Son of a Cecil?

[sub]Pssssst – bib, you can edit your own texts and they’ll never notice… Well, they’ll never notice aside from the “Edited by bibliophage” at the bottom of the edited post. [/sub]

Anyhow, welcome, Billy and thanks for the kind words. If you liked the “Who wrote the bible” reports, you’ll find lots of similar biblical textual analysis/history in the Archives.

[sub]Pssst–Dex You haven’t learned how to get rid of that “edited by” yet?[/sub]
