"Wrong Turn" - true to life???

I have just finished watching Wrong Turn (my parent’s taped it off Fox for me) and I have a few questions for any West Virginians out there.

Is your state really so densley forested?

Could there really be people living like that out there and authorities not know about them?

(forgive the stupid questions but I’ve had a few beers and just felt like asking some questions before I got too pissed and had to crash)

Only a West Virginian by marriage, but I’ve been there several times.

There are areas of West Virginia like that. My in-laws live on a state highway that has a good populations, but get away from it a mile or so and you’re in deep forest.

As for actually anyone living like that, not that I know of, but I guess it’s possible.

Yes, there are some very densely forested areas.

Yeah, there are possibly some folks up in the hills who the authorities know little about. Though most of them do make the effort to make themselves known, so they can get their welfare check.

Let me put it this way…they regularly trap-and-remove black bears from within 10 miles of the capital building in downtown Charleston.

Yes CG, since they’re not witty urbanites they MUST be on relief.

Stereotype much?

Sense of humor. Look into it. You might be able to find one 50% off after the holidays.

Mom’s a social worker. I’m originally from a very rural county. The welfare line is half-joke, but all too true.

Wait a second. We’re in a thread talking about *Wrong Turn * and you’re yelling at me about stereotypes?

This always seems to happen to a thread I start. :frowning:

This one here started to turn into a crusade by Starguard until bibliophage turned it back.

(Maybe I should have another beer… and not let it worry me…)

But seriously, thank you Odinoneeye, CandidGamera and Balle_M for your comments.

It puts into perspective how big, green and unexplored your country actually is, whereas mine is mainly desert… (oh, we do have a big rock in the middle though…)
