Fair enough. I thought that entrance felt a little too Black Panther focused when I saw it, specially given the context and connection between Falcon and Cap, but it must have been coincidence.
Will the Black Panther role be recast? I would expect so.
Of course it will, there are at least a billion reasons to.
Could this be the leading superhero break Donald Glover’s been thirsty for for years?
What about John Kani’s son, who played the younger T’Chaka (T’Challa’s father) in the movie?
Probably better Donald than Danny.
Hell no! Not the way “recasting” usually means. There is a movement in the black community to bring back Kilmonger, but that is rooted in the general feeling of betrayal and anger that’s overtaken us in the last 4 or so years.
I think the very best thing is to do what the comics have done. Shuri is Black Panther.
Yeah, but they need to get more of the special herb to turn anyone else into the Black Panther.
Now me, I figure that the guardians of said herb have emergency seed caches spread around the world on the theory that if some disaster forces them out of Wakanda (hey, there could be another asteroid! or a volcano!) they can start over somewhere else, so Killmonger forcing them to destroy what they had at that one site isn’t going to make the herb extinct.
Or maybe Bast will miracle up some new herbs.
But damn. He brought such strength and dignity to the role. I wish there were a Wakanda and that I lived there.
