WTF is the girl saying in Weezer's 'Beverly Hills'?

That “gimme gimme” should be “gimmie gimmie”. :smack:

I have the tune off of iTunes on my machine. She says the words six times: 0:34 to 0:37, 0:53 to 0:57, 1:27 to 1:30, and 1:38 to 1:40, 2:33 to 2:37, 2:43 to 2:47, and 3:05 to 3:08. The second word is definately “gimme”. The first word is somewhat indistict under the power chord that hits just before it, but its second sylable is “ee” and the emphasis in on the first syllable.

I just listened to it on the website, and it sounds like “can ya gimme”, but the “can ya” is really covered up by the music so it’s more like “cn y-”.

Nice find, thanks! This is probably as official as we will get.

I really liked this song the first time I heard it. Then I really liked it because I realized I could sing “The Sweater Song” over top of it.

Then I found out it was by Weezer, pulling a Nickelback. I liked this song better when the girl was asking for a ride to the party.

You know, I’ve wondered this myself. I decided that she’s saying “Nuh-yimmy” and it’s there to irritate people (like myself) who are convinced that it’s supposed to be something intelligible.

I always thought it said “are we really” instead of “gimme gimme” but if it says that in the lyrics then ok I was wrong maybe?

Please do not ever mention Weezer and Nickelback in the same breath. It will create an anti-matter vortex that sucks the universe into itself.

I think she’s saying ‘‘Look at me.’’ I watched the music video and did not get much insight.

I am a hard-core Weezer fan and even a not-great Weezer song is better than most other songs. But I much prefer the song Pork and Beans, particularly the video, which is a send up of every great YouTube viral hit, and includes the actual stars of those videos. If you haven’t watched it, you’re in for a treat.

As an aside, because I can’t help but talk about Weezer, Pork and Beans was on the red album, but it speaks to Weezer’s interesting relationship with net culture. My favorite album is Maladroit, which they tried to write collaboratively with fans on the internet, and so half the songs on the album are Rivers Cuomo bitching about how hard it is to work collaboratively with fans on the internet. I love meta stuff like that.

According to wiki “Stephanie Eitel of Agent Sparks on the chorus on backup vocals, performing the “Gimme, gimme” hook.” lol

I love it that Shy Kitten did some searching, joined the Dope just to answer this question with an off-the-wall answer different then everyone else’s, admits she is wrong, and is never heard from again.

Dennis

Sounds like “can you gimme” to me.

Could it be saying,

You and me
To Beverly
You and me

???

It’s driving me crazy too, I also want to know who the girl is?
