WTF is up with Iceberg Lettuce

What I don’t get, seriously, about the whole iceberg lettuce hate on the ground of it being “tasteless” is … what about water? That’s got to be about the most tasteless thing there is. But nobody’s going to give me shit if I want to down a glass of water rather than a juice or a coffee - in fact, they’d probably aprove, on the grounds of its general healthiness. But somehow when it comes to food “tasteless” is supposed to be the kiss of death. What’s that all about? Yes, an iceberg lettuce is fairly taste-free. So what? It’s a feature!

I am another that grew up eating iceberg, though we did have a garden that had some kind of loose leaf red and green lettuces and real spinach.

I will sit down with bare naked iceberg as a snack rather than with dressing. I like it because it is ice cold and wet with a nice crunch to it.

I do actually like romaine and butter lettuces, but sometimes I just want a big old hunk of iceberg!

[though I really like shredded cabbage in my gyros and doner =) and I will actually snack on raw cabbage]

A nasty flavor. I’d sooner eat a napkin than celery.
