Wtf is up with Minnesota?

Actually, the latest plan is to take out either one of the 2 driving lanes, or remove some of the on-street parking to accommodate the light rail.

And they didn’t need to go down University Ave, that’s simply the route that was chosen. I personally think the University of Mn Mpls Campus to St. Paul Campus to State Fairgrounds to State Capitol to downtown St. Paul would have been better.

Well, apparently a lot of people – I-94 between the two downtowns is the 2nd most heavily traveled road in the state.

And the bus route that goes along University Avenue one of the most heavily utilized.

You mean you haven’t been going to the meetings? Those “community leaders” will be furious. :smack:

How cool, she and Sarah Palin have the same foreign policy background!

Is that like being the second best ballerina in Nashville?

Sure, but how many of those people are traveling only between the two downtowns, as opposed to driving through?

I’ll second that opinion, although I don’t have a cite, either. It’s not nearly as common anymore but “a lotta guys” (;)) used to call home and say “I’m by (bei) John’s house. We’re going to the bar. Wanna come with?”

MeanOldLady, has anyone yet borrowed you a copy of How to Talk Minnesotan?

“I seen.” Yuck. Reminds me of a commercial years ago for some toy. A kid on it exclaimed “It’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever saw!” Made me all kinds of stabby.

I have not. Oh crap, maybe Al Sharpton has been elected President of Black People!

Ooh, yah, I know all abowht talkin’ Minnesooohtan. Heh, so when I first moved here my friend sent and an e-mail which said something like, “I’ve seen the movie Fargo. Do people out there really talk like that?” I laughed. “Not really, but yes.”

I grew up in Minnesota. I loathe, hate, dispise, revile, and dislike that construction. I’ve not heard it in the Boston area, though, and I hope it stays that way.

Okay, I just came back from lunch, and it’s snowing outside. What the hell, MN? Can some other state borrow us some good weather?

We like the snow.
It keeps the riff-raff out. They all move out west to California & Arizona, or down to one of the slave states.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

They didn’t move anywhere. They all hide out at the Wal-Marts.

Riff-raff, ha! I like the snow too… in bleeping winter!

I gotta say, I’m guilty of this and I never thought about it being incorrect.

“Can I borrow that pen? Can you borrow me 5 bucks? I’m going by John’s house. John borrowed me 5 bucks…”

This must be common in WI as well, then.

Have to eat my words here. I was just driving home listening to MPR when I heard a woman in Stearns County (aka Lake Wobegon Central, and who had just rescued someone who fell into a grain bin) say “He was by (bei) his dad’s.”

Yeah, I was living in Hawaii the first time I saw that movie and thought the accent was dead on. The next time I saw it was after I had returned to this area and the accent is off just enough to grate on my last nerve. :stuck_out_tongue:

No snow up in Onamia, just grey and gross. Ick. None here either from what I’ve heard. Lucky you.

It snowed big fat happy flakes! Hate that it was all wet and gross, though. I prefer it when it’s colder outside so I can just brush the snow off without getting all soaked.

Wow - How many Minnesnowtans are we getting on these boards these days?

I moved here to get more winter. The language is just an amusing side dish (hot dish!).

Well, the State Fair’s been over for weeks – it is winter.
