Are you sure you were reading the 5/23 edition? It’s the one with Storycorps on the cover. Clearly, you have connections to the Reader that the rest of us do not. Is there no way for you to determine what happened? If the paper is publishing now on the proverbial shoestring, how would they have been able to put out two versions of the paper? What should we think? How do we fight ignorance when the source of our knowledge is flummoxed? What’s next - Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria?
TCR’s online site lists an article by Dan Savage, but not by Cecil/TSD.
I don’t know that TSD is ever listed in the contents for a particular week; it’s a permanent link on the page. See “Straight Dope” hyperlink between “Summer Guide” and “Savage Love.”
You should mix up the columns every now and then:
Savage Dope
Summer Love
Straight Guide (ok, that doesn’t really need a handbook)
With all due respect to you,our Gormless Weenie, it would appear to the long-time reader that you’ve been enjoying- and sharing- some of your more vivid hallucinations since the early 1970’s.
I’m just sayin’. Maybe you’re so used to seeing the SD column that your mind kind of inserted the column into a copy of The Reader that in fact did not feature it…
So - it’s no longer the weekend. What’s the verdict? What happened? What will be happening? Why did little Ed claim to see the columns that were absent from the edition I saw? Did some versions of the paper come out without those columns and without reference to them in the Table of Contents? Or did something else happen? How is this to be explained? And what about Naomi?
The verdict is that you probably missed it by accident or perhaps a page was missing from your paper.
Oh no they got Marley too.
—Lowers head—
Poor, poor Marley…
Turn around quick and see if Rod Serling might be lurking in the background!
I’d know Rod Serling anywhere !!!
Do not attempt to adjust your set.
Hmm, I attempted to adjust my set.
Do I need to report myself for violating moderator instructions?
Did you see Cecil?
The self-imposed sentence for that verdict is to (sheepishly, I promise) admit that on further review, I somehow did miss seeing the page where they appeared. My initial tantrum having run its course, I now have to deal with the feeling of complete idiocy.
Hey, the banner says "Fighting Ignorance Since 1973 "= and just on the 40th anniversary, yours has been fought successfully !!!
I have this issue and SD & SL are on pages 16 & 17.
The columns are not, however, listed in the Contents page.
I don’t think I’m worthy, all I saw was a panorama of vivid and swirling colors that tasted funny.
Oh no. They got CC and all the rest of you too
