Recently I discovered that Japanese Destroyers could,
on an emergency basis, slap on another 5-6 knots above
their maximum speed, for a short period of time.
They supposedly had some mysterious and inscrutable method
for doing this not duplicated since–undoubtedly some
dirty Oriental trick that the U.S. Navy couldn’t figure
out and the Japanese would never 'fess up to. Did they
inject NO into their cylinders? C’mon, somebody has got
to know!
That no one has been able to duplicate? Can we know the source of your information on that point?
That no one has figured out? Then we won’t know either.
Give us a hint: where did you discover this factoid?
They couldn’t have injected anything into their cylinders because they used steam turbines.
I thought maybe they lashed down the safety valves on the boilers and maxxed out steam pressure but they would still have the same amount of steam nozzles feeding the turbine.
What’s your source of info on this?
