www.imoscar.com

I know I pointed it out in the other thread, but it just occured to me to actual try the URL http://www.imoscar.com. Brilliant!

Then you have a lot of catching up to do at www.never-nude.com , tonywonder.com , freeannyong.com . There are probably a few I’m forgetting- these folks know where their fan base is. On the Internet. Dissecting the show. Like Yeshiva scholars.

Huh. I guess so.

Wasn’t there another show that actually built web sites that they mentioned?

The Simpsons is one. Their web empire includes WhatBadgersEat.com, MrXsWebsite.com, SpringfieldIsForLoversOfGayMarriage.com, and Homer’s e-mail address, chunkylover53@aol.com, which was registered to show writer Matt Selman, who attempts to answer questions as Homerly as possible.

In a related vein, http://www.whenhamstersattack.com/ is a spin-off site from one of Dav Pilky’s Captain Underpants kids’ books. There was a second URL given for the hypothetical elementary school of the series, but AFAIK there’s no domain name or site for it.

I watched an episode of West Wing once where there was a website mentioned. I checked it out, and sure enough there it was (can’t remember the details).

I may have to turn in my card for admitting to remembering this, but there was also an episode of Beverly Hills 90210 where Donna was starting some dotcom business and the URL led to a mockup of the storefront or whatever.

Two and a Half Men gave us www.charlieharpersucks.com

WhatBadgersEat.com is real, but the other two Web sites - they do nothing! NOTHING!

During Season 3 of 24, at one point Jack was instructed to visit the Web site www.sylviaimports.com to get some message from the baddies. The site is real and a message is still there.

The Venture Bros. did it with
http://www.scrotalsafetycommission.com/

I must say, if this is what the bad guys write to each other via websites, I’m not impressed with their badassitude.

They worked at the time the episodes which involved them aired. They must be gone now.

Being John Malkovich had a JM Inc website which advertised portals into someone’s head, quite well. I ran across it months before I knew anything about the movie and I was mystified.
