XENA is cancelled.

Click here for the story. Six years of fighting and wearing the same leather bustier are over. One of the silliest and yet most entertaining shows ever made is no more. I guess re-runs will continue indefinitely on USA Network and/or the Sci-Fi Channel and in syndication.

In the final episode, Xena and Gabrielle should finally give in and have the passionate lesbian affair they’ve been avoiding all this time, after they both kick the crap out of Ares once and for all.

Then I beat the shit out of Joxar and run off with Callista and Discord.

This is too bad, I like watching Xena while nursing a hangover.

But the day they cancel Beastmaster is the day I throw my TV out the window.

Are there no more Xena fans out there?

:frowning: I’m not allowed to be a Xena fan anymore after my husband realized the only reason I drag him to Universal Studios is for the Xena Show. I love her! I love her leather outfits, and EVERYTHING!. I hope my husband doesn’t see this thread, he is a lurker and I’d be in troule.

I was a fan until the writers went freaking insane. I stuck it out as long as I could hoping it would get better again, but that stupid mermaid episode was the last straw for me.

They lost me too, a while ago. I kinda faded out after the whole “Gabdrag” arc (you know what I’m talking about, don’t you?), although I thought “A Bitter Suite” was cool. And the cliffhanger ep with Caesar’s end and the crucifixion stuff blew me away. But I never knew where they were going with Gabrielle’s whole Indian thing and the Jesus character, and once they came back with “Xena’s got a baby and it’s Callisto reincarnated” or whatever it was, I bowed out.

I enjoy cleavage as much as the next guy. We take it for granted that it will just be there for us all the time and then we get news like this. Appreciate it while you can.

I believe there’s a conspiracy to keep gratuitious cleavage and any perceived lesbian behaviour off the public airwaves, how else can one explain the cancellation of such a popular and highly rated show?

There is nothing wrong with cleavage or women in leather or women in comfortable shoes for that matter…

We can all be offended.

tubagirl - your husband has something against leather outfits on women?

mmmmmmmm… leather…

No, he likes that. he doesn’t like ME liking women in leather…mmmmm…leather…

I used to watch it as often as possible (which honestly wasn’t much), but the plot arcs just became… stupid.

And the subtext got really old when I could watch Buffy and see honest-to-god maintext. The Xena/Gabrielle thing was at best, inconsistent. Hell, the series was.

I’m not taking down my pictures of them, though.

I was a big Xena fan for a while there, too, but I have to agree - the plots just got too stupid. They lost me. I’d be willing to watch reruns of the earlier episodes, though.

I think Buffy’s a far superior show, all in all.

Why do people think they have to take action shows and turn them into lessons in philosophy, anyway?

I don’t watch much TV, so I don’t see the show all that often, but it was always comforting to me just to know that Xena was there, somewhere. I feel without moorings now.
