I have an Apple TV content streaming device but apparently Xfinity doesn’t have an app for you to be able to get their content on the device. Anyone know whether the Roku, Chrome Cast or Amazon Fire Stick have apps that work with Xfinity? I’ve done some searching on Google and I get a lot of seemingly contradictory answers, so what I’m looking for is someone who has actually, physically gotten Xfinity to go to work on one of those kind of content streaming devices (as opposed to a tablet, a phone or a computer, where I know it works…including, ironically, on both a iPad and iPhone).
Roku does not. I’m not sure if the Fire does but I somehow doubt it. Chromecast is a different beast than the other three and it looks like it might work. There’s an app but I haven’t used it. Plugging a computer directly in (using HDMI-HDMI or DVI-HDMI, DisplayPort-HDMI etc.) will work and that’s how we watch Xfinity.
Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. I can hook up my laptop with an HDMI interface…the surface book I have already has Xfinity via a browser to stream (not sure if there is a Windows 10 app for it, but it hardly matters). Was hoping for a one shot device though similar to my Apple TV device but looks like, for whatever reason (I assume greed/money being the reason, since obviously it’s not technical) Xfinity doesn’t want to work and play well with vertical content streaming appliances (while working fine on laptops, computers, tablets, phones and the like).
Thanks for the info…appreciate it.
