XKCD 1190: "Time"---Randall's setting something up...

A cunning plan!

Yay, castle-boat-raft!

For my next prediction: At some point they will need to throw a rope, either out to shore, or to someone in the water. It will be too far for them to throw by hand, but Megan will be able to apply her trebuchet knowledge to get the job done.

I think it is coming …

I have to say that Randall has once again done something unique and interesting using this peculiar medium. We’ve had months of virtually nothing happening, then a cougar attack and the discovery of other people, and suddenly what was an excruciating crawl has turned into a mad race. It’s like the story is a boulder being pushed up a mountain - it’s slow going most of the way, then it gets a bit faster and easier as it levels off at the top, and next thing you know you’re chasing the thing down the other side.

I can’t think of any other story paced quite like this one.

Especially when you consider that this all started as a comic about building a sand castle. I would have thought it an interesting comic if they’d just made a very nice sand castle.

The alt-text has gone back to “…” as they ride out the flood.

That star field, with conspicuous Pleiades, a few frames back was just screaming for someone to come up with a date and time for, given that we know the rough latitude.

I’m sure someone will do so shortly.

And they’re building sand castles again (“Why do you have little tables covered in sand?” - heh) as they head toward landfall.

And now that they’re on land, I’m kinda bothered by the thought: getting to land was never going to be the hard part - getting to land that would keep on being land was the object. But neither Cueball nor Megan has said anything to suggest that the sea’s no longer rising - and if it’s still rising, and the land’s sloping upward only gently, then they’d better get back on the raft.

Over at the xkcd forums, people float a date of April 10, 13291.

Well, that’s it. I’m going to miss it. Glad everyone survived.

Woah… We’ve been Bill Watterson’ed!

Noooooooooo!

“The End”

I’m actually sad that it’s over. It feels like I’ve been checking it for so long now.

I wonder if he just got tired of doing it?

That’s it?

I’m going to miss it!

Pass the steam bottle.

Wow, that was an unexpected development.

Now I wish there had been a bad pun at the end. :frowning:
