Click and Drag
Do like it says. Wow. Just…wow! The Mario references were my favourite, I think…
Must have taken ages, even for stick figures.

Wow! Is there any way to zoom out?
Awesome!
How big is that thing? Did anyone else find the X-Wing?
Great googly moogly! Have you explored the whole thing? I haven’t; found a hole in the ground that brought me full circle, but there are branches and directions I haven’t checked, yet.
That’s really fantastic. Really good looking as well–the tree/tower/bridge/building/rocket/etc. silhouettes look great. Did you find the huge underground area?
I hope he adds a way to zoom out, but not for a little while. Part of the fun is exploring. But I really do wonder if there are disconnected areas that can’t be found with edge-following. It wouldn’t surprise me if there were a giant airship in the sky somewhere, for instance.
I found the X-wing. And the velociraptors (one feathered, one not).
Someone on another forum posted links to full versions of the image, although the fine details seem lost; good for seeing a general overview at least. Here and here. They also recommended saving it to your computer and then opening it; just clicking on the link to see the image bogged his computer down trying to load it.
On the full image I linked I noticed
space whales.
I wonder if the internet will be noticeably slower today.
I got lost underground, then found a submarine in a cave.
I had put fresh batteries into my wireless mouse just a few minutes before I opened the image. I needed to change them again half way through!
All the images are stored in the directory
The file names are all <x>DIR1<y>DIR2.png
DIR1 is n/s (north/south)
DIR2 is e/w (east/west)
For instance, imgs.xkcd.com/clickdrag/1n1e.png gives you the starting image, 1n1w.png is to the left of that etc.
I can’t tell, but it’s possible that there are gaps in the images (i.e. since there are some things really high up, despite 2n1e not existing, 5n1e might).
I’d make a composite based on the guideline image Trihs posted, but I only have MS Paint to work with so it would be really hard (I gave up after trying to get 3/4 together, it’s very hard with paint).
Worst XKCD comic ever! And the rollover was so boring this time.
:-p
What the hell is that chasing the miner way underground? It looks like a set of cardboard boxes going SSSSS!
They sneak up behind you, hiss and explode.
Thanks. More fun:
There’s a guy on the ship saying “Avast? Avast? Avast?”
It is, after all, Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Wow, it even worked on IE7!
Just amazing. Every image stitches together seamlessly, although it was clearly not made as a monolithic whole.
This comic has more than many webcomic artists’ entire archive.
This was like the coolest thing ever. Whenever I feel like I may be getting tired of xkcd, stuff like this happens.
