Xmas novelty song

“It went “ZIP” when it moved,
and ‘BOP’ when it stopped,
and ‘WHIRRRR’ when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was,
and I guess I never will.”

These are some lines from a novelty Xmas song. I’m looking for the title/artist.

It’s called “The Marvelous Toy,” and it’s by Tom Paxton.

“I hope life isn’t a big joke, because I don’t get it,” Jack Handy

He’s a very talented song writer. " I have a copy of that song on “The Very Best of Tom Paxton” cd.

Here’s a funny song from John McCutcheon to try “Rubber Blubber Whale” on the “Water From Another Time” cd. You’ll really like this, if you like “The Marvellous Toy”

I think that Peter Paul and Mary did a version, as well.

I love that song!!!

Some mornings it just doesn’t seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps.

I’ve only ever heard the version by Peter, Paul, and Mary. IIRC, it’s on an album of kids songs entitled “Peter, Paul, and Mommy.”

It’s also on “Christmas Like a Lullaby” by John Denver.

It doesn’t sound nearly as funny as “Homo Christmas” by Pansy Division, though.

Thanx.

I always thought that song was about a dildo. It makes perfect sense after it disapears up he boy’s behind.

HUGS!
