Hugs and kisses. But which is which? I’ve always thought of the exes as kisses, and vise-versa. But I (and most I’ve heard) say “hugs and kisses”.
Here’s what wiki opines.
Does this belong in MPSIMS? Or in the dark recesses of my mind.

I think cecil did something on this… But I can’t find it.
The X is from Medevil England… The illiterate poor would have to have agreements with landowners. The deals would be made on paper and the only person that could read the document is the person that wrote it. The poor would sign it with an X and kiss it to show that they had faith that the landowner was being honest.
Hence, Xs (I signed here) and Os (kinda the shape the lips made)
How this got turned into hugs and kisses, I don’t know, but the Os were the kiss.
I’m almost 100% sure I’m not repeating an urban legend… I even vaguely remember seeing a S.D. goofy drawing accompanying the article.
