XP home serial in XP Pro

Forgive my self indulgence but I have a question that had little to do with fighting ignorance on the grand scale.

A customer I’m very friendly with asked me for a copy Windows XP because they’ve lost theirs. I only have XP Pro and they still have their XP Home serial key.

If I give them a copy of my disk is it going to object to their XP home Serial number? :confused:

Yes. It will also object to a retail version vs. OEM version of the same product.

If your customer has proof of purchase they can contact Microsoft for a replacement. I’m not sure how much they charge.
