Hallo. maxthevool and I have a bit of driving to do this weekend, maybe 10hrs. Can anyone recommend an audiobook we’d both enjoy? Our tastes in fiction are usually pretty disparate, but we have both enjoyed some YA fantasy, like Harry Potter and the Hunger Games series. We’d prefer a shorter one, around the 10 hours ideally, as we may have trouble finishing a longer work. thanks!
The Lemony Snicket “Series of Unfortunate Events” are quite short; you could probably get through at least three of them.
I’ve listened to “Peter and the Starcatchers” (first in a series of novels about Peter Pan, written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson). It wasn’t bad at all, and is narrated by Jim Dale (who did Harry Potter).
Supposedly, Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimaeus Trilogy works well on audio, though I’ve only read them in print. But each volume is a bit over the length you’re going for.
I listened to the Artemis Fowl books recently. The narrator is very good.
Yikes. I’ve already read every book mentioned so far! Who knew I was such an avid consumer of YA fantasy?

The books are funny, especially the Feegles. I know some people find Tiffany off-putting but I like her.
The unabridged versions are all just under 8 hours. Also, I’m 30 and my boyfriend is 37 and we both absolutely love these books, even though they’re not adult books.
Redwall and Mossflower. They’re probably a bit younger than YA, but the audiobooks are thoroughly enjoyable.
I can’t believe I didn’t think of that! The entire Redwall series makes for incredible audiobooks.
I don’t think the books fit into an age group. The fact that they’re animals makes them seem more like kid books but most of the stories seem more like young adult or even adult stories.
I enjoyed the audio version of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
