Ya think? John Edwards has a column in today's Post

Call me cynical…

But isn’t it amazing that potential Democratic presidential Golden Boy, John Edwards has an opinion column in today’s Washington Post?

Less than a week since Al Gore announces he’s out of the running for the 2004 nomination and look what appears! And he’s even writing on the Homeland Security issue as well.

It’s doubtful that this has been put in motion since Gore’s announcement but maybe there was some inside knowledge. If not, it’s a great coincidence for Edwards.

Nevermind me, I’ll be over there in the corner…grumbling about politicos.

Only semi-related - I need someone else to admit that they thought Crossing Over when they read this… I can’t be the only one!

Sorry, JC, forgive the hijack.

He’s from my home state and I wouldn’t vote for him.

[…sheepishly raising his hand…]

Yeah, I thought it was another chance to make fun of a psychic.

Remember, his name is John Edward- with no “S.” :smack:

I don’t see anything suspicious in the timing.

The Senator, not the psychic, has been mentioned many times in the media over the past year as a possible candidate and this is about the time a person’s candidacy becomes more public.

I can hardly recall seeing this Senator on TV the past six months and for that reason alone, my kudos to Edwards.

Me too. The first thing I thought was, “Let me guess…he’s got a column opposite the Obituaries, and he’s going to contact people on the next page.”

As for the Senator, I would think that he already had preliminary plans for a run in '04, since it never was a certainty that Gore would be on the ticket.

Oh, I know he had plans. I’m just amazed he got a major feature column this close to Gore’s announcement.

Given that he’s from NC, it would be more like “Y’ reck’n.”
