YAJT (Yet Another Jeopardy Thread)...

Okay I have 2 questions:

1). Do they still do Celebrity tournaments on Jeopardy anymore? My wife and I started watching “full-time” about a year ago (PVR’ing every daily episode) and we have seen Kids tournaments, Teen Tournaments, College Tournaments, teacher Tournaments and Tournament of Champions but no Celebrity tournament.

2). We just finished watching the Teacher’s tournament. Did anybody else think the Answers seemed simpler than normal Jeopardy play? I like to think my wife and I are fairly sharp. On a traditional Jeopardy show (this is by no means exact, some days we’re better, some we’re worse) between the two of us we probably flat out know the question for 35% of the answers, we can guess the question from the clue for about 50% of the answers and the last 15% of the answers we’re totally clueless as to what the question was.

It seemed on the Teacher Tournament we flat out knew about 50% of the questions, could guess the questions for about 45% of the answers and were only clueless for 5% of the answers. I kind of thought teachers should be at least on-par with regular Jeopardy questions. The difficulty seemed to be slightly above Teen Tournament levels in our opinion.

Did anybody else find this as well?

My wife and I have watched on and off (mostly on) for 20 years. In our opinion the questions have always been a little harder for the Tournament of Champions, and easier (often way easier) in all of the other tournaments.

.

Generally, I agree with this assessment. That is why I don’t like the tournaments too much.

Celebrity jeopardy seemed really easy. And some news correspondents did amazingly poor at it.

I’m also curious if there is still an annual Celebrity Jeopardy tournament!

(Plus, I am McDeath’s wife, so I am hoping he gets an answer to that part of the OP).

Celebrity tournament once a year, I think. Seems like the last one might have been over a year ago.

Didn’t they have one celebrity game every month last season. the nine winners came back as semi finalists in August and three winner faced off for Million bucks (for charity).

That sounds right. Is that the tournament where Michael McKean was brilliant?

And Wolf Blitzer was . . . well, I was embarrassed to watch him (he ended with minus $4600). If they discontinue the Celebrity Tournament, it’ll be to avoid this kind of disaster.

What was really funny was once, they had Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf vs. a couple of Babewatch babes. Not surprisingly, the general ran away with it… But he missed one where the question was “Who was Douglass MacArthur?”.

Saw on the Jeopardy Facebook page that they are having a Washington DC “Power Players” tournament at some point this season. Wonder if they bring the Blitzer back. Ah, it’ll be in the middle of May, and the players haven’t been revealed yet (Huffington Post article).
