I had always assumed that it was the music companies, not the online music store that dictated the DRM. If Amazon can do it, I’m wondering why iTunes and the others don’t offer DRM free music too.
iTunes and Steve Jobs actually led the way with DRM free downloads, persuading EMI to start selling their music DRM-free. Those sales start at the end of the month.
Money talks, but suspicion reigns.
