Yay! DOH! OK... Yay!

Remember a month or so ago when I was planting mint? As long as I was in the nursery section, I decided to look for something to put in a nice little pot we have. A cactus would be perfect.

Well, they didn’t have any cacti, but they did have a green-edged purple succulent that looks a bit cactus-like. I planted it in the pot while Mrs. L.A. was at work. When she saw it she said, ‘Oh, you bought a hen-and-chicks!’ :smack: We have two pots crammed with hens-and-chicks! You mean hens-and-chicks aren’t all green?

But she liked it. And she agreed that it looked nice in the pot. And it’s already started budding. So Sunday I bought a bigger pot and transplanted it. Yay! I did something nice! Doh! we’ve already got that kind of plant! Yay! She likes it anyway! And it’s reproducing!

I love Hens & Chicks! You can’t have too many. :rooster:

I think hens-and-chicks sounds like a girl-band.

The Henson Chicks.

Yay! The plant is very prolific. There are more than a dozen (Two dozen?) offspring, about the diameter of silver dollars.

DOH! The purple has faded considerably. We’re starting to think it was artificial.

Is it in full sun? Non-green or variegated plants will tend to fade to green if they don’t get enough sun, since the pigment that makes them purple or red or yellow or whatever is covering up the chlorophyll in some of the cells. They need stronger light to photosynthesize.

I’ll try that.
