I took my dog Brewster to the vet today for his booster shots. Per normal procedure, I weighed him on the scale in the lobby before check in.
He’s nearly eight and has put on the pounds as he’s grown older. Last year at this time he weighed about 95 pounds. So I put him on Purina Fit & Trim which has about 100 fewer calories in a cup than regular Dog Chow. Today he was down to 75, 20 pounds lighter than at this time last year. The vet was impressed and said he could stand to lose 10 more pounds, but was pleasantly surprised by his weight loss. He has a clean bill of health and does seem to be more active. And he’ll be less prone to hip problems in the future, so that’s something to be glad for. All in all, well worth it for a healthier dog.
