Yellow Submarine

Beatles cartoon show with London accents??? That’s a new one on me I’m afraid.
Iwas inculcated to the Beatleness of all things during a Beatles movie fest one New Years Eve when I was 13. That was the first time I saw YS. I’ve alway liked it. I love the wonderful toss away one liners and interesting blather peppered (sorry) throughout:

“Where shall we go, Max?”
“Argentina?”

“Maybe it’s a bi-cyclops.”

“It’s a condiment.”
“A cond–?”
“A spice.”
“Oh.”

must think of something else
CAN’T…MUST…NOT…IMAGERY…YAHHHHHHHHHH!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

[ahem!]

Seriously, there was a 1/2 hour cartoon with the ‘Beatles’ ABC network, if I’m not mistaken. Voices by Paul Frees or Stan Frieberg, some of the great voice-artists, but nowhere near the actual voices or accents of the Beatles. Copyright infringement or contracting, perhaps?

One of my favorite parts in YS (in addition to several mentioned afore) was the Sea of Holes, where all the balck dots would fill the screen and move. Fun dizzy feeling, best on a large theatre scrren. I wanted to paint my room in black dots. Still might.
