Yes that's right, I put the Straight Dope on my resume

Hey, it’s good education! :wally

god help me

Is that really a good idea? You sure you want a potential boss googling it up and coming up with the pan-fried semen thread, or that one thread where Giraffe ate a sandwich that had been dunked in urine?

Or, worse of all, your boss might end up becoming a member him/herself! The horror!

I can safely say I don’t want MY prospective employer to find that Giraffe thread. They’ll never want to sit with me at lunch, particularly if I’m eating a sandwich.

i suppose you both have a point

damn the world

Presumably you haven’t done much damage in 17 posts…
…or have you???

I’ve found it’s hard to say “Straight Dope” without some folks thinking drugs.

not as much damage had i pressed send on the ol email button

Lessee, I’m in the market for an employee. Here’s a good resume, good qualifications, etc. And what’s this - Oh, joy - an active member of an online message board. I’m sure s/he’d never spend any company time & resources in pursuit of that activity…

Or even: “This applicant hangs out on a message board filled with people who fornicate with sheep!”

Congratulations MessyPaint. Thank goodness one applicant had any interests other than the business of widgets. See personnel about arranging a start date. Two things with the SDMB - don’t be on there all day and watch out for the non-work friendly links - they WILL be a problem.

I thought people only listed the SDMB on applications when they were entering rehab.

At least they didn’t put “Active Doper” on there.

This coming from the LAST person who needs to put the SDMB on his resume.

Robin

Under “extracurricular activities”, I have sometmes put

… or words to that effect. I wouldn’t likely put:

though.

Okay, but are you willing to incorporate “Straight Dope Message Board” into your wedding vows? And are you willing to name your children “Cecil,” “Askthegayguy,” “The Reader,” and “Aboutthismessageboard”?
Resume? Resume?!? Pfft! Resumes are temporary, friend.

Happy

Oooooooh, this is interesting.

I think I’ll name my children “Mundane” and “Pointless”. Yes, yes. Mundy and Pointy. I suppose Pointy will be a boy. Or a girl. Or whatever they choose to be. Whatever the choice, they will likely change their name to “TMI” later in life.

Ya’ Know, I was fortunate enough to miss that thread. But thanks to you I’m officialy traumitized.

Thanks for that.

Whatever you do, don’t let them know that you’re committed to fighting ignorance. There’s no room for that crap in corporate America.

Oh, it’s really not to be missed.

I managed to miss it the first time, too. Any chance of seeing those pix again?
