Don’t get knocked out, man! Save the money and just have them numb your mouth. It’ll toughen you up.
I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out about 6 months ago and it was a piece of cake. I just relaxed on the operating table and opened my mouth wide open. It didn’t hurt…after the first four anesthetic injections into my gums. You can still feel the general pulling and prying but it isn’t sharp pain. It saved me a couple of hundred of dollars compared to being gassed.
Same here. I had my wisdom teeth removed last April under local anesthesia, and it wasn’t that bad. You may have some pain and swelling for a couple of days, but it’s nothing unbearable (I was able to manage the pain with regular old Tylenol).
Thanks for the support, guys. 5 days to go… and they are putting me right out. He said it’d be best, otherwise 8 shots in the mouth to get all four of them out. I’m not as squirmy about needles as some are, but I think I’d rather just not remember anything.
I had one wisdom tooth removed when I was in high school with just local anesthesia, and to this day I regret it – the tooth was very stubborn, and the dentist had to wiggle it for so long that the bone was bruised and sore for days afterwards; and of course I felt all the pressure and knew what was coming, which probably didn’t help any. So unconsciousness is definitely the preferred way to go!
Good luck, and I hope your extractions are as easy as the last tooth I had out – it popped out practically as soon as the dentist touched it!
