Yet again . . . bourbons.

I came home from a long day at work (opening a show tomorrow, so a 12+ hour day at the theater) to find a bottle of Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve sitting at the computer from my girlfriend, for our two-year anniversary, which was today (yesterday, at this hour).

Even though it’s late, and no one is awake, I thought I should have some, so I am.

I really like this. I’ve been buying Knob Creek ‘normal’ as my bourbon of choice, but have been getting ready to switch to something else, because it’s just too harsh for me. Maybe it’s my old 31 year old digestive system talking, but lately I’ve come to enjoy it less and less (and have to add water just to get it down comfortably).

This, though, is nice. Very strong flavor, but mellowed out enough to be kind of smooth.

Anyone else like Knob Creek Reserve? Any other suggestions? I recently got a friend a bottle of . . . um . . . Woodford Creek(?) at the recommendation of the clerk at the store, but I haven’t tasted it. What’s that like?

Knob Creek is the only premium single-barrel bourbon I have had, and unless it has slacked off, it is exquisite.

You’ve got a keeper!
