Yet another addictive time waster

I can shut-out pathetic and angry slimes in a combined 2 minutes…then I only manage to score 2 on the master slime. I hate his serve. He has 2 moves…and on each move he can either let it drop in on the net or tip it past a jumping me depending on which way I move…as long as he doesn’t serve I’m good…unfortunately, he start serving after I serve once, then scores 5 aces, then I score, then he puts me away with a score of 6100+. HOW DO YOU BEAT HIM, Cnote Chris?!?!

That move pisses me off too. What I do is assume he’ll let it drop short and move in to make that play. If he doesn’t, and sends it long, you have a split second to move both back and upwards and save the ace.

The biggest thing is to assume he’ll try the short move and prepare for it.

But I admit, it’s bullshit. If it wasn’t, you’d be able to do the same move on him, but I’ve never been able to do it.

Thanks again for the link, SHAKES. Sometimes stupid games like this get me hooked for a bit.

AAAHH!! I hate you one slime! This is pitiful. I’ve just started but have only scored twice in three games. (it helped a bit after I read the directions. What kills slime? Oh, yeah, let’s throw some sand at them, and then when they cry for mercy, we’ll pull out the fireblasters. Cooked slime coming up. if only I could win a game :frowning:

After a bit of practice, I developed the Killer Serve of Death[sup]tm[/sup]. Pathetic White Slime was helpless before it. Time and again, he earned his monicker as he tried, vainly, to return my serve. I can beat Pathetic White Slime consistently.

Angry Red Slimmonds proved a little more adaptable, but the Killer Serve of Death[sup]tm[/sup] still proved superior to this two-trick pony’s attempts. I can beat Angry Red Slimmonds frequently.

The Slime Master stole my serve! He’s using my patented Killer Serve of Death[sup]tm[/sup] against me, the little freak! How dare he!

I cannot defend against my own Killer Serve of Death[sup]tm[/sup]. I am mortified. The best I’ve been able to do is three points against him, all by spiking a specific serve of his.

I FINALLY BEAT MASTER ASS SLIME!

9112 points…then got mashed by Psycho-Blinking-Fast Moving-Invincible-Ass Rape Moronmountain-Slime 6-nil in 2 minutes…his serve is much more effective than Master Slime’s…but it’s the same serve. He just moves faster, so he gets more power and thus speed on even short hits. It sucks.

well, after i finally beat White Slime.

after that, i made red my bitch in one clean sweep, the first time i saw him. then, through some incredible luck, i BEAT BLACK SLIME!

and, managed to promptly hit K instead of L on the blinker.

Is it my imagination, or does the flashing psycho slime move (unfairly) quicker than my slime can?

I can get to Psycho every time now, usually first time. Ironically the easiest one to beat is the black Slime Master.

Here’s how:

To defeat his serve, walk right up to the net as he’s preparing to serve. He’ll either back way up, which means he’s going to try a killer “drop” serve (just wait for it and hit it back), or he’ll hit the ball with the middle of his head which means he’s going for his “trick” serve. If he uses this one, wait for him to launch the ball (he’ll rush the net), then start backing up - but not too much or he’ll just let the serve plop in front of the net and you won’t be able to reach it in time. He’ll see you’re backing up and tip the ball a second time. Since you’re already backing up, you’ll be able to get it. Sounds complicated but I can do this every time, and I no longer fear his (or Psycho’s) serve.

To defeat Slime Master during play, the key is never jump. Keep the ball low, low, low - just let it bounce off your head (unless it is almost a dead ball, in which case you might have to hop a little to get it over the net.) Just keep letting the ball bounce in a low arc off your slime’s head. Eventually SM will either jump and the ball will go under him, or try to hit it low back to you and send it into the net. Works like a charm.

Anyone have tips on Psycho?

Yeah, my friend told me about your servce return too, Darren…but I just have bad timing. I figured out the never jumping thing already though. I only win by never letting him serve. Once he serves, he score 4 or so aces before I can regain the serve.

As soon as he serves, I move foward a little bit, and see if he trys his drop shot serve. If he hits it backwards instead, I move foward just a little more…that way if he lets it drop, I can scoop it up, but you have to anticipate it…if he trys to tip it past you in the backcourt, you have to jump and move back almost immediately otherwise you’re screwed…but I haven’t perfected this yet. I can get to him no prob, then beat him about 50% of the time.

The best I’ve done against Psycho Slime, however, is going up 2-0 on him in 30 seconds by pure luck. I just took what I did with Master Slime, but this time JUMPED. Sometimes I just jump up, which is mildly weaker than jumping up and foward into a volley, so by switching it up, you confuse him, and he’ll misjudge one of your vollies and you score an 800 point winner. But after that, good luck. Psycho Slime is a far more advanced life-form than me as it stands now (In terms of virtual volleyball of course…I could kick his ass in a dark alley any day, assuming he HAS an ass).

For Psycho, the best strategy I’ve found is to avoid jumping, as well. He plays a lot like the Master, in the sense that if you send a ball low over the net, Psycho will sometimes jump prematurely and the ball will go under him, just like the master.

I haven’t beat Psycho yet, but I do know a couple of good serves against him (these work against the Master, too); you can often ace him with these serves with enough practice. I just haven’t practiced enough to ace him six times in a row yet.

  1. This one is from the FAQ (the “skim serve”). On the serve, move your slime a little to the right (don’t jump), and stay there. The ball will go low, rebound off the back wall, bounce off your slime again, and cross low over the net. With a little practice, you should start being able to ace Psycho with this one.

  2. This one I came up with. On the serve, move to the left (again, no jumping). When the ball is coming down, move to the right; try to meet the ball so that it hits your slime just about right on the eye. The ball will go low over the net; again, with a little practice, you should be able to score an ace with this serve, as well.

So far I’ve only lost about five or ten minutes of my life to this game. Something that irritates me is that the pitiful human controlled slime seems to move a lot slower than the pathetic computer slime. Is this the way it is supposed to be or am I missing something? I’d sure like to be able to catch my own volleys off the back wall, but if it doesn’t come down close to where I am there is no chance. If this is part of the game, fine, but I’d like to know if I’ve got the Atari 2600 “B” switch up. Any way to put some hustle into my slime?

Rhythmdvl
(hmmm… ‘Hustling Slime’ – potential band name?)

I finally beat the slimes! I actually got one of the top scores listed there (for now, anyway).

The Psycho slime is the last slime. The fifth (and last) level is Psycho again, only he’s spotted five points at the start.

Again, IMO, the key is to use a serve you can ace the slime with with reasonable regularity. I kept practicing the second serve I mentioned above until I got good enough to be able to run a streak of aces past him. Once you get that, it’s not too terribly difficult, though it’s hard as hell to beat Psycho if you don’t ace him.

Oh, and Rhythmdvl, I’m not sure, to be honest. Psycho is noticably much faster than you. However, for the first level, it’s hard for me to tell; they seem to be about even, speedwise, though the computer may be slightly faster.

Good show, cabbage. That’s damn impressive.

I’ve been trying to do what you talked about, but it’s not working against the psycho guy. I’ll keep at it until I overtake you in the standings.

He he heee.

I don’t mean this accusatory or anything, but what does that ‘clocked’ thing next to some of those scores mean?

I’ll get you for this someday, infinitii. I’d get you right now, only I’ve got to go play another round.

Thanks, CnoteChris!

The Psycho slime is harder to get an ace on than the Master. I kept on practicing, and, while I couldn’t always do it with consistency, I would get lucky and be able to pull off four or five in a row occasionally. Try and send the ball low over the net on the serve, and fairly often, Psycho will just jump over it.

The “clocked” just means you finished the game. Once you finish level five, you’ve clocked it; there is no level six. I can’t finish the game straight through, it always takes me a few to several tries to get past the Master and Psycho (particularly Psycho).

PWS is on steroids. I’m sure of it. :frowning:
