Yet another crack at Internet History -- as you relate to it...

Here are a few earlier threads that I’m aware of where the issue of Internet History is a major component of the discussion:

Some helpful (?) links to add to the noise…

What is the oldest website on the Internet that still is online?

How old is the internet? Whats the oldest website on the internet?

Add more such links if you have them!

Here’s a possible topic to explore. I don’t recall a similar discussion thread on it.

Other than Bing vs. Google vs. Yahoo which Search Engine do you use most often? Are there others even more preferable to you? Do you use all three for different searches depending on the specifics of what you’re looking for?

In my case, it was Yahoo! from the very start and I have remained a loyal user in spite of some real complaints over the years. I do have the other two at the top of the page in my Favorites Bar and do occasionally resort to them if the Yahoo! Search leaves me with questions or hopes for a better hit.

Others I have used in the past, and still do in situations where the BGY team doesn’t get me what I’m hoping to find, are:

Dogpile
Lycos
Mamma
Excite
WebCrawler
and others to a lesser extent – or I just don’t remember their names…

What am I missing here?

Hotbot was my go to. It had an easy graphic interface for “exact phrase” or “all words.”

I just looked at it and I’d like to give it a shot to try it out. What’s something to search for that would put it through its paces?
