The only thing that keeps my son from being the best kid on earth is that his 16 year old sister keeps the voting from being a landslide win. 
How a father could possibly create a situation where his kid wants to kill him is beyond belief. My friends all think I am a great dad, but I know I am far from perfect, and yet my kids love me. Wow.
Well, it’s obvious from what you’ve posted here that you respect and value them as individuals rather than treating them as extension-of-your-ego chattels. That goes a long way.
