Yes, it makes for a different Congressional race. But if what flickster wants is for Stupak to face the infuriated voters and lose, his retirement has the same net result: no more Stupak.
This crap just annoys me. This idea of a “groundswell” is just silly. There are over 300 million people in this country and for the tea party “movement” to actually be a movement i would expect at least 10% of the population to be involved. Are their 30million TP’ers? Uh, no. A few thousand people yelling about shit they dont understand isn’t a movement to me. And any attempt to call them that lends them a legitimacy they dont deserve.
fuck em all. racists dumbasses the lot of 'em.
Dob, I agree with you somewhat but also agree that these people should not be ignored – because the Republicans sure won’t in their attempts to use anything the can the rouse the rabble in November, and we already know they (TPs & Rs) belong in using fear.
So you’re clueless about the content of your own OP, and you don’t care to know.
Gotcha.
I will treat you with the appropriate respect in the future.
My Link was the this headlined article
If you wants to cry about me not being able to focus on the following paragraph buried within, let me get a towel for you
In reality, Stupak just happens to be today’s poster child. My beef is with Congressmen who somehow think they are insulated from having to justify their actions/voting records to their constituents. I’m all for Obama’s directive for Congress to return home and sell the program during recess. Instead, the vast majority have done anything but.
How many is a ‘vast majority’ in this case: 2/3, 1/3, 7/8, 3/16ths, 10?
While not exactly from a MSM source, it appears to me to fair assessment of how recess has gone
so maybe 3 dozen, or 36 Democrats.
House passes health care bill on 219-212 vote
36/219 = 0.164
3/16 = 0.1875
So generously, 3/16ths is your idea of a ‘vast majority’.
I like my vast majorities a little larger than that, thank you.
I’m rather baffled by this thread.
Furthermore, trying to “work with” them won’t help, as they won’t be satisfied by anything other than complete submission by the dems, and they’re not stupid enough to be taken by “I feel your pain” platitudes. So marginalization seems the best solution for now.
Well, unless they’re Abstain & Run cowards.
I suspect his retirement has a lot to do with upcoming ethics investigations for his involvement in the C street house.
Spotlight has been burning bright on him lately. He has plenty of reason to go hide in the shadows.
Ooh, linkies?
Complaints about C street have been mounting here is a recent story on it.
Thank you.
I’m curious about that, too.
My own congressman John Hall (NY-19) was in the paper today having spoken to a retirees association about the health care bill. This isn’t a sure-win district for a Democrat.
I think the number of Congressmen out there actively meeting with their constituents and selling the program is far outweighed by the ones painting themselves invisible and marking time till they can flee back to DC - hence the vast majority comment.
So the OP is pissed that a congressman he doesn’t like is not running for re-election? Is that about right?
So you’ve got no numbers, just a ‘gut feeling’ on the same level as Bush’s assessment of the grave and gathering threat posed by Saddam’s WMD’s. Did you fall for that one? I never did.
Nope, you’re missing the point.
I’m pissed that they have the gall to act surprised that their constituents are upset with their performance/voting record and then instead of defending their actions paint themselves invisible while on their home turf or as in this case, just decide they don’t have a chance and quit.
As I said before, Stupak is merely today’s poster child. Does it sadden me that he’s quitting - NO. I would like to see Most of them routed (both parties). With Congressional approval polls at only 11%, I’m not alone
