Everytime I turn on my computer when windows loads it automatically opens the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder on the desktop…why the hell is it doing that? lol…Thanks in advance
RayRay, I apologize in advance for this Hijack.
Another weird thing my XP is doing (although overall I’m thrilled with it and I don’t see why a lot of people don’t like it, I think it rocks!)
Every once in a while, I’ll just be working along, and this weird little window pops up with Spam in it. It says something like Windows Messaging Service or something, and it’s always just spam stuff. I think it’s tied to Windows Messenger, that AIM-kinda thing, except that I turned it off, it’s not loaded, no icon on the taskbar, nothing. Is it one of those things I can’t remove all the way? I hate instant messaging and never use it. How do I stop this annoying spam?
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
//\etalhea|), take a look at this link:
Tech TV explains messenger spam
I don’t know the solution to the OPs post. Maybe check you startup items, or go to run and type in “msconfig” (w/o the quotes) and see if anything is in your start up that is causing that folder to open when you start up.
ray, check your Start Up folder, along with your registry (go to start/run and type regedit to enter the registry then check HK Local Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/ then check Run, Run Once, and Run Services) and the win.ini file to see where it’s loading from.

Dude, thanks a ton for the link. That explains a lot!
Do a google for “xsetup”. It takes a good OS (XP) and makes it GREAT! It lets you turn off all the annoying crapware MS feels you need, including messenger, the stupid balloon tips, etc. Best of all, xsetup is freeware.
