Yo, Marley23!

How’s your brother doing?

Hey twicks! Tyler came home in August - I did post one last time in my “it’s not a tumah” thread to say so - and he’s now back in school and doing well. He had his stupid feeding tube taken out right before school started, so aside from some scars and a fairly well-covered-up bald spot he looks fine. His voice is a bit stronger these days, even if he’s not doing some of the exercises he should.

He’s visited me my apartment twice in the last month. In August, I took him and my girlfriend to a Mets game and for about 12 hours, we stuffed him full of as much food as we could. He was in really great spirits that day, it was wonderful. He also visited me this weekend. We kicked back and talked about the book I’m writing about our experiences*. I want Tyler to write a few chapters; I think it’ll be missing a lot without his firsthand input. He’s made some notes, although he’s procrastinating in the typical way.

I probably mentioned in the thread that Tyler has become an enormous Scrubs fan. Over the summer, I sent a letter to John C. “Dr. Cox” McGinley explaining our story and requesting an autographed picture. (I actually sent him an autographed picture of me and Tyler playing bass.) It came about a week ago, and I gave it to Tyler during his visit. He flipped.

What really impressed me lately, though, is that Tyler says he now wants to be an ENT surgeon, like the one whose lack of bedside manner annoyed us so much. He thinks he can do better.

*I’m tentatively calling it Stop Punching Your Father, although I’m sure I can do better. My girlfriend suggested Brain Humor.

 Yay!

Glad to hear it, Marley! Send Tyler my best regards.
Can’t wait to read the book!

Glad to hear about his progress! Looking forward to the book too.
