Yoohoo! Newcastle, here I come!

I presume you’ll be taking along a load of coals…

JENNY:!!! Newcastle superior to Manchester???

Are you daft woman or drunk or both.

  1. Newcastle is full of Geordies
  2. Only Geordies can UNDERSTAND Geordies [well maybe a few Mongolians as well]
  3. You may have Whitley Bay and other mud flats but we have erm, Blackpool?
  4. Newcastle Brown Ale sucks

Right spogga, that’s it, outside.

spogga, the greatest advantage Newcastle has for me is the fact that I’m getting this scolarship there. In Manchester, I’d have to shell out the money, beg someone to be my supervisor, and yuck find a job!
Well, just a joke, I am working anyway, but you get my meaning…
Jennyrosity, what is so bad about Sunderland? I mean, apart from the funny name?
You might also be interested to know that your description of Plymouth nearly matches my ole little village in Italy, that was called (translated) Clay Madonna (or Clay Mary, or Clay Virgin), and was way smaller even than Plymouth… It doesn’t even show up on the maps. And it had a bus about every three hours.
As for BrotherCadfael, well, I’m bringing along plenty of big thick duvets and heavy heavy handmade jumpers…

LARS: That my friend is a disadvantage, what’s wrong with M/cr Uni [said he who deserted his home city and went to Sheffield]

JENNY: Ooh I just love it when you get mad, you sexy little minx you [see you in the park at 8 :)]

LARS: (again) I’ve been to Italy only once, place called Cattolica near Rimini/Riccioni, d’ya know it?
Some bastard nicked my camera there.

spogga, let me remind you that you’re bound to get a few crooks in any population that’s large enough… And then, Cattolica is quite crowded in summer, so of course thieves flock there. As for Manchester Uni, I’ve got nothing against them, but there weren’t available positions, that’s all.

You misunderstood LARS I didn’t sat I wasn’t going back to Italy just 'cos I lost a camera, hell no!!

Great food and great people. At a farmhouse miles from anywhere we had cheese, bread, olives, fruit all washed down with erm, wine? [rough as a bears arse actually] but after a few glasses who gave a shit.

So when we tried to pay we couldn’t find the farmer or his wife, they just buggered off and left us to it so we left money on the table for them.

One of my best memories

Hey a doper bad mouthing Sunderland!

Newcastle is a very nice city just a shame about 100,000 geordies who live there! Nah in all honesty you’ll have ball nice place good beer (I’m a Sunderland lad so not mentioning football!) But Sunderland can be a wonderful place too, not far away and even better beer CITY TAVERN pub excellent

Off topic, but when I read this thread title and your name, at first glance I thought you registered with the username “Large Anus”. For some reason I feel like sharing that.
In any case, congrats.

Thanks for the congrats… I might have to change the username, then; I don’t even want people to think that. It’s not clever.

spogga, sorry if I sounded reproachful, but you know, I read you associating a theft with Italy as the first thing, so… Ok, settled now.

Lars, please ignore this maniac, he’s trying to tempt you over to the dark side. Sunderland is a bad place full of evil people. I should know - I went to school there! St Anthony’s RC Girls School, home of the scary nuns

No, don’t do that. Just becuase I have a potty-mind and was sleepy while browsing last night is not a good reason for you to change it.

You went to SCHOOL!?

Sometimes. When I wasn’t too busy kissing boys behind the bike sheds ;).

I live in Sunderland, and 'll happily verify that it’s not a place you want to be in.
homesick

Right as I have been in bed with the flu for almost a week and missed this we will put a stop to the Geordie bashing RIGHT NOW!
As everyone knows all the best people come from there  as for you Sunderland “people” well the less said the better I think.

Anyways as for where to live - stay away from Byker & Cowgate what ever you do. Good student places are Jesmond and Gosforth for those that aren’t so financially challenged but Heaton is a good place as well and has good bus services . South Gosforth is also a good place and has the metro. The university has a very good housing office who has a list of accredited landlords and can help in your search. As for living further out - you need to be near to the city to make the most of what it has to offer. And travel costs get prohibitive

Have fun

ONLY kissing?

You aint gonna get away that easy you little vixen you :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t have much to add accept my congratulations and that Newcastle Brown Ale is my favorite beer (drinking it right now) and that I think Alan Shearer is a hell of a football player.

Alan Shearer is a dirty player but I wish he played for my team the mighty MANCHESTER CITY
