I’d do it. I can speak well, I can write well enough to “compose” my own speeches, I have a pretty good sense of right and wrong, but tempered with a little bit of pragmatism, and am not afraid of accountability. My cabinet would be from a wide enough spectrum to avoid merely being an echo chamber, and no “yes men” need apply. I would make my own decisions (that would infuriate the neocons and the extreme far religious right - a plus). My first acts would be to rescind all “signing statements”, and return to the FISA as written. I would then launch full investigations into GITMO and Abu, inviting full UN participation. I would dismantle the “Iraq Desk” in the Pentagon. I would take FEMA out of Homeland Security and make it a separate Cabinet post. I would audit Homeland Security itself, and shut it down - reassigning the people to other more capable agencies such as the CIA and FBI. Finally, I would get the government out of the “God business” and return to the idea that a person’s religion is their own business.
And that’s just the first morning on the job
