Yanno, looking at this snake’s Wikipedia page, I’m sure this guy spent a long night or two wondering if his tallywhacker would still work.
The toxin contains a neurotoxic agents, as well as a coagulants. Even with pressure immobilization being used to contain the toxin, if any had been injected into the guy’s wedding tackle, it seems that such a technique offers the affected limb as something of a sacrifice to the venom, while trying to save the patient. Considering how sensitive the penis’ structures can be to nerve or vascular damage, it would have been looming large in my mind, at least.
It may be ironic to say that this guy was lucky, but I don’t think it is wrong.

[semi-educated guess]The snake didn’t envenomate but any kind of residual venom on or around the fangs would be enough to cause a reaction. This ain’t your momma’s copperhead; the eastern brown is the second deadliest snake in the world.
