You can simply WIPE out your email...

Is anybody else getting a slew of spam, from various companies, all with that identical text. It thinks I am going to click on the link to unsubscribe.

I don’t, I just Delete, because I expect this also to be scammy in the sense of “this is a live email address - spam him even more”. This is Gmail, and I have a fairly random user name, so I think it is just sending spam to everything from “aa0000” to “zz9999” @gmail.com.

I am a little surprised that the spam filter isn’t catching it. Is anyone else getting this?

Let’s see: Nigerian prince… erectile dysfunction… hot, willing MILFs in my area… Hustler… CBD oil… astrology… more erectile dysfunction… get out of debt… Terminix… keto supplements… another erectile dysfunction…

Nope! All different spam.

Why aren’t you reporting it as spam?

This. Here’s how: How to Report Spam in Gmail

I’ve done that, although without doing the Unsubscribe option. As mentioned, these are all (allegedly) from different senders.

Gmail learns to recognize spam from these reports, and they can see where the email is coming from more deeply than who it says the sender is. My advice is, just keep reporting the spam and let them sort it out. FWIW, I only get spam on Gmail sporadically, and my most recent spate was after I bought something from Best Buy and let them send a receipt to my email. I pretty promptly logged back in to my Best Buy account and changed my email address to an address I reserve for known spammers and spammer-compatriots.

I agree with you that hitting “unsubscribe” is effective in direct proportion to the sender’s ethics.
