Huh?
Yay, a broken thread.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and extrapolate the meaning of this thread.
In Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, I always cringe at the part where Spock asks McCoy if he will assist him in modifying a photon torpedo to take out the cloaked Klingon ship and McCoy replies, “Fascinating”.
NO BONES, THE CORRECT ANSWER WOULD BE, YES!!!
Take off the scene at the end of Schindler’s List, in which Oskar breaks down crying. Too maudlin.
I can watch and “enjoy” Poltergeist, but I most certainly do NOT want to see the fellow rip off his face while looking in the mirror. I don’t much like that scene.
The end of Psycho, with the pat wrap-up explanation, fails to live up to the rest of the movie. Fortunately, the disturbing final image (a close-up of Norman’s face, with skull superimposed) rescues we viewers.
Us.
Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame is actually not that bad a movie if you fast-forward through Jason Alexander’s song.
I have never seen the Ghost scene in any movie version of Hamlet. Either I fall asleep, or I’m in the bathroom, or the kitchen, or the phone, or something else - but the fates have decided that I don’t see Hamlet’s father show up…
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: "Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head . . . "
Forrest Gump–everything after Jenny’s death.
Moulin Rouge is my favorite movie in the entire world (and yes, I know about the majority of Doper’s opinions of the movie, and I don’t care). I think most of the scenes are clever and interesting, and I love every song scene. Except, however, for “Like a Virgin”, with the Duke and Zidler. I can’t stand that scene. I always fast forward on VHS or skip it on DVD.
I loved American History X. My friends rented it, and we watched it about 4 times (each time someone hadn’t seen it, and we insisted that they watch - but they didn’t want to watch alone).
I think that movie is incredible social commentary, and Edward Norton’s performance is one of his best (and I haven’t seen him in a bad role yet). But the scene where (highlight to read) he stomps the guy’s teeth out on the curb is 100% unwatchable.
There’s a glitch in the software, it doesn’t always show the start of a thread. We’re looking into it.
Thanks for bearing with us as we play “find the bug.”

Munch, I agree with you absolutely. In fact, it will take exactly the right circumstance for me to ever watch that movie again (I’ve seen it once). It’s the best movie I don’t want to see again.
As for another, in Star Trek II, there’s this scene where Khan puts these little larval things in Chekov and his commander’s ears and they’re screaming and such. For a long time I would close my eyes for that part.
I enjoyed A.I. very much except for that stupid and annoying “Dr. Know” scene.
Unwatchable–the needle part during Uma Thurman’s OD scene in Pulp Fiction.
Ruinous–the last 30 seconds or so of “Unbreakable”. Totally unneccessary (although some may say the whole movie was unneccessary).
Oh, Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!
I swear I had the text on this thing last night. Then I clicked to start the thread and the transfer stopped at 39% and I never had any notifications (why would I?);I didn’t think it had made it through. Logged off in resignation. Imagine my shock when I found the broken thread tonight.
Sheesh.
Here’s what I had said:
There’s a movie you like to watch and have seen more than once. But there’s just one scene you have to fast forward or look away from because it makes you uncomfortable, nervous or sick.
Here are mine:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest: the scene where they give Jack Nicholson electric shocks. Can’t bear to watch.
Midnight Express: the scene where a couple of the prisoners are trying to dig their way out but of course they’re in danger of being caught. Makes me so nervous I have to hit the fast forward.
Schindler’s List : When they make the women and girls strip and walk into the “showers.” Fortunately, it turned out to be just water, but it still makes me sweat.
My apologies for the break. I really didn’t think the transfer had gone through.
Looks like everybody “got it,” though.
Since this is a fairly old movie, I’ll assume that we’re spoiler-friendly, here.
In Jacob’s Ladder, that scene where he’s in his ‘alternate world’ and gets wheeled off to what looks like a derelict hospital to get examined by a faceless surgeon–that scene always creeps me out.
It’s a creepy movie, though. So I guess it belongs there.
??? I thought that was one of the hottest scenes in the whole flick!
