You know, we should chat about global warming

So what? This is pointless too.

Are you just going to keep posting non sequiturs?

(post shortened)

Not pointless, we agree on something. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Here’s lookin’ at you, kid.

His point is that Al Gore didn’t cause the last ice age, therefore the industrial revolution couldn’t have happened in Greenland where the ice sheets weren’t melting. And some people were depressed even before the industrial revolution, therefore global warming can’t be responsible for scientists’ depression. Except that Al Gore caused their depression. And he caused the Great Depression, most likely.

Honestly, Colibri, this isn’t rocket science.

You know it rained today here in Southern California. Really, and it’s cold outside right now. This global cooling thing might be real after all.

But it marked the beginning of something unprecedented in the climatic history of the planet.

As for “the last ice age” – we’re still in it; this is an “interglacial” period of it, but geologists consider any time when there’s ice at the poles an “ice age.” And by that definition, this one might be about to end, and not as part of a natural cycle.

The best temperature data available for the last 2000 years shows a gradual climb up to a high around the year 1200 called the Medieval Warming period; a somewhat sharper and deeper decline from that peak down to a low in the 17th-19th centuries called the Little Ice Age; and then from the end of the 19th century onward a dramatically sharp rise in temperature. It looks a lot like a cooling trend was suddenly interrupted.

If this means you’re leaving to join the French Resistance, go for it.

<nitpick>

AGW is not cyclic … the extra CO[sub]2[/sub] comes from burning carbon that has been sequestered for 300 million years underground. This is a one time deal, once humans burn all the fossil fuels then CO[sub]2[/sub] production will end.

Hussain el’Obama may have just cut Big Oil’s throat by denying the permit for the XL pipeline’s northern section. The basic argument is that by the time this thing gets back on track, there will be many many many more solar panels installed and whatnot.

Sorry to interrupt the hate-fest with positive news …

Seriously, you’re 12, right? 13?

Seems like you’re actually trying to start one.

It will be positive only when this number decreases:

XL was only one item, and what it is clear is that the Republicans do not care to be demagogues by ignoring the price we’ll all pay for continuing to let the fossil fuel industry to not face the real costs of using the atmosphere as a sewer.

You people are offended by me calling the man “Hussain el’Obama” … what the hell, y’all related to him or something? You’re just looking to take something personally …

Yes, it’s only one piece of the puzzle … but other pieces of the puzzle are also falling into place. We’ve a long way to go still, of course, and it really does come down to us using the atmosphere as a sewer. It’s up to us to stop overloading it.

Think globally, act locally.

When you engage in trolling like that, your intention is obviously that people will take offense.

I’m not offended, and I do not take it personally. I just think it’s fucking idiotic, and makes you look childish.

Hahahaha. Have you read your posts in this thread? I would say that hate-fest is a perfectly reasonable description.

You’re really a lot more pitiful and pathetic than hateful.

What did the French ever do to you? Gee whiz, is there anyone you aren’t trying to start a fight with?

Colibri has never tried to start a fight with me. And that’s despite all the terrible things I’ve said about his mother.

Yeah, you’re right. It is really pretty horrible to wish you on them.

Maybe you should go join ISIS. That should make them self-destruct within a few weeks.

Especially since my mother is blind, crippled, and dead.:frowning:
