It is because paleo climatologists and oceanographers also investigated the issue, the CO2 is the same stuff we are releasing in the atmosphere and in prehistoric times the high amount of CO2 caused the temperature to be high and oceans were at much higher levels than now. Whereas natural or human released the result is the same.
