You know what I like about debates?

The candidates don’t seem at all scripted.
They wear such diverse and exciting attire.
They don’t rely on repetitive theming.
They always seem genuine.
They always answer the question asked of them without rambling off into some random topic.
They don’t resort to class division.
They are willing to say what they truly believe, not what is a fly by night polled response designed to garner them a vote while having no basis in reality.
They let their true selves shine through rather than some puffed up version that tries to convey a combination of father figure, policy wonk, tough guy, and the ultimate caring person.
They don’t rely on sappy stories to try and get their points across.
The seem relaxed, rather than pre packaged and overly drilled to the pointof being more scripted than a Fred Astaire dance number.
The candidates don’t try to spend the whole debate coming up with the best one-liner for play on the wrap ups following the debate.

But, I mostly like that they only happen every 4 years, because otherwise even a political junky like me would go crazy and throw the TV off of a tall building based on all the double speak, statistical misrepresentation,
scripted boringness, and disingenuousness that occurs because candidates are too scared to say what they truly believe, why the believe it, and what they are going to do. Not everything is sunshine and roses and there isn’t one
person who has all the answers, so quit treating the voting populace like a bunch of slack jawed yokels who don’t have the sense that God gave a rotten egg.

That’s why I liked Ross Perot. He was a moron, but at least he said what he believed. I wish they would have some of the other political parties in on the debates, or maybe a death match with all the candidates. Now that would be entertaining…

Hmm… George W Bush and Al Gore in Thunderdome - two men enter, one man leaves…I like it!

Could we maybe work it out that neither man leaves? Please?!?

I sort of wish the debates could be done with each person answering the same question, and not able to hear each other.

Then we’d have matching sets of answers to compare.
