You know your dog is spoiled when...

My dog gets two walks a day and in the summer one of those walks is usually replaced with a trip to the p-a-r-k (Shhh! Don’t say that aloud!). But she’s gotten so spoiled about going to the park that she will often refuse to go for a walk around our neighborhood - she’ll just plant her paws and refuse to budge. Release her and she makes a beeline for my truck. So you know a dog is spoiled when they refuse a walk for no other reason than they’d rather go the park!

I bake homemade doggie treats for Auggie, The Cutest Dog on the Planet ™. I have a cookbook and a little bone-shaped cookie cutter. The first time I did it, my husband came into the kitchen and saw me with a rolling pin, surrounded by things like whole wheat flour, cheese, and garlic, and he got all excited that I was baking, until I told him I was making dog treats.

When one of Auggie's stuffies gets disemboweled and needs to be mended, I match the thread color to the stuffie.

…they live in the same house as my wife.

My dog thinks she has Jedi powers.

She doesn’t bark to go out - she stands at the door and stares at it until it opens (and it does!)

Like the Princess and the Pea, she won’t lie on the couch if there is something like a ball or a corner of a blanket that might end up underneath her if she is up there. She needs a Dolly-sized clearance on which to land when she jumps up. So she’ll stand there with her head on the couch and stare at the object until it is magically moved.

Jedi, she is.

At night, your dog hops up on your bed before you, and, because she’s just that cute the way she’s settled in and already dozing, you let her stay on the folded-down comforter, and are slightly chilly as you’re falling asleep.

My parents cut the legs off our old baby crib and took off one side of it to make a raised bed for the dogs. It has a real mattress in it with real sheets and blankets.

When a 40 pound dog takes up the whole loveseat and refuses to let you sit there too…

I don’t begrudge them their comforts though, they were homeless dogs who weren’t treated well. One is missing a front leg, and the other one was abandoned by her owners when they moved. They deserve some comforts!

You know your terrier is spoiled when she eats from a bowl and drinks from a glass.

Yes, my mother does this…
